More of you have been out walking on the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge and we have had some further enquiries about the Delamere Meridian.

We are, in part, reproducing a story we ran previously and we hope that this answers your curiosities.

Hidden away on land belonging to United Utilities and inaccessible to the public, is a trig point; close to which began the mapping of Britain. This humble concrete trig point is swamped by undergrowth and lies within a United Utilities enclosure but this site marks a location vital to the earliest Ordnance Survey maps.

The Delamere Meridian, a centre point from which early scale maps were measured and laid out.
