Whilst some birdwatchers may have flocked to the Peak District earlier this week in the hope of seeing a Bearded Vulture, our friends at Tattenhall Wildlife Group (TWiG) boasted yet further sightings of a pair of Red Kites today, Wednesday 15 July.

Members of TWiG were lucky enough to spot a pair of Red Kites circling over both the Flacca and Jubilee Wood and heading in the direction of Harthill and Burwardsley.

TWiG last reported sightings of a pair in May; recorded over Newton Lane and flying in the direction of Harthill.

We also reported the sighting of a pair of Red Kites over hay meadows in Bickley Moss during the month of June.

Whether or not these magnificent birds are actually breeding in our area is still an unknown, but it seems more likely with every positive sighting since this is now the third occasion that we have received confirmed sightings of at least one pair this summer.

Keep sending us updates.
