This week's 'Footprint on the Ridge' is the remarkable story of an independent Victorian woman, widowed twice and who, on the 1841 Census, was listed as 'Farmer' on the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge.
That woman was Mary Aldersey.
Whether Mary was typical, we will never know but a fascinating story all the same.
