Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest on The Sandstone Ridge, is Cheshire's largest area of woodland.

There is woodland and then there is ancient woodland.

Delamere Forest boasts beautiful deciduous trees and stately evergreens; a microcosm of all that is good about woodland.

Delamere is also a haven for wildlife including the:

  • small tortoiseshell butterfly
  • greater spotted woodpecker
  • white faced darter dragonfly
  • green woodpecker
  • siskin and
  • southern hawker dragonfly

At Blakemere Lake there are nesting black headed gulls.

During national Walking Month, enjoy a stroll through this enviable woodland.
