Churches crop up all along the Sandstone Ridge.
They are important local features and part of the distinctiveness of this unique landscape.
One such church is St John the Divine at Burwardsley.
This architectural gem dates back to 1730, is open daily and is located on the beautiful Sandstone Ridge.
As part of their Armistice Centenary commemorations, the Church will unveil its new oak 'Roll of Honour' on 11 November, which is dedicated to the men of this tiny rural hamlet who died in both The Great War and in WWII.
One Burwardsley family alone, was to lose three of its sons to The Great War.
Be sure to take a look when you are out walking or cycling on the Sandstone Ridge.
