The results are in – over half a million people across the UK took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch, counting more than 9 million birds.
This year's Big Garden Birdwatch has revealed that House Sparrows are top of the list!
This bold, noisy, community-minded bird has landed in top spot in Birdwatch, for the 20th year in a row, despite more than 10 million pairs disappearing in the UK since the late 1960s. However, House Sparrow numbers have remained relatively stable over the last twenty years with signs of increases in some parts of the UK.
Meanwhile, long term trends in the number of Long-tailed Tits, Greenfinches and Chaffinches recorded in gardens over the past decade alone highlight the fragility of our natural world.
This year, the findings come as Sir David Attenborough says 'we must act now' to Save Our Wild Isles; joining forces with the National Trust, WWF and RSPB to sound an urgent SOS for nature.
