Jousting goes back to its roots in this tournament of strength, skill and horsemanship to be held at Beeston Castle , on (Saturday and Sunday 3-4 August, 10am-5pm).

Charging at full speed, and with only chain mail for protection, each knight will clash head-on in an unforgettable display of courage. It's every man for himself in this thrillingly authentic 13th-century tournament, inspired by the brutal early days of jousting.

As well as experiencing the thrills and spills of an authentic 13th century joust, make merry with a feast of medieval entertainments and treats. Discover the secrets of armour and weaponry, and see our foot soldiers in battle. Visit our surgeon who is on hand to help with any ailments you may have, and hear about the gruesome ways he would have treated his patients during medieval times.

This really is a great day out for all the family during the summer holidays – children can take part in junior jousting and mini melee, and thrill seekers of all ages can test their arm at 'have a go archery'. Hear our medieval minstrels 'Myal Pyper', and enjoy mischief from our jester 'Tom Fool' as well as a range of displays within our encampments.
