Have you ever wondered about the nature of this building on Old Coach Road, Broxton?
A datestone can be seen '1895' and the letters 'BFB'.
Just for the record, it is not simply an elaborate shed — rather, its heritage is bound with the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge.
The building and, importantly, its contents were hugely important to our farming fraternity on the Ridge.
At times like this it is always useful to call on one of our long standing supporters, David Hayns, who has extensive knowledge of the Ridge.
And so, in the mere blinking of an eye, David has kindly agreed that we can reproduce his very detailed article of times past. The building by the way is the former 'Broxton Fire Engine House' and 'BFB' refers to the 'BROXTON FIRE BRIGADE'.
An interesting piece of research — we hope you enjoy it.
