You may have seen publicity regarding the clouds of 'painted lady butterflies' which are being spotted across the country and which experts believe is a mass emergence that happens every decade!
Described as 'an amazing wonder of nature', thousands of 'painted ladies' are being recorded as weather conditions and food sources have combined to provide ideal conditions for the species to thrive.
You will know that we have already published details of 'The Big British Butterfly Count' which lasts until Sunday 11 August; a great project in which to involve our youngsters during the long summer holidays.
So, get counting — the big butterfly count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping assess the health of our environment.
