Thanks to everyone who continues to forward information regarding individuals who have left a legacy footprint on the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge.

Their stories are remarkable and add to our collective memory associated with this 'magical place'.

Today we feature the story of Sir John Done, the 17th century Master Forester of Delamere Forest (formerly the forests of Mara and Mondrem).

Sir John Done, the 19th Master Forester, was knighted at Utkinton Hall in 1617 by King James I.
