Flood Defence Updates

26/04/24
China Meadow 2

Dodging the showers has been a particular challenge this last week but work is progressing on Phase 2a of the Mill Brook Flood Defence Works at China Meadow.

Work began on Monday 10 May when volunteers from TWiG (Tattenhall Wildlife Group), Dr Nicola Hall from ELM Associates, Dr Mike Norbury from Mersey Forest, and the contractor, James Pownall, were all on site.

The project outcome is to alleviate further flood risk within the centre of Tattenhall and builds on the good practice of Phase 1 which was completed in 2016.

Already, stream-side vegetation has been removed and the location of new fencing has been staked out. The contractors have also started the preparation of drainage ditches and the installation of the bunds.

We will keep you posted with regular updates.

Our thanks to our Sandstone Ridge partners, farmers and volunteers.
