In recent months there has been a showcasing of our local area with, most recently, Julia Bradbury walking the Sandstone Trail, the backbone of Cheshire.

Only last weekend, the delights of the Sandstone Ridge were again featured in celebration of 50 Years of BBC2's Gardneners' World.

'Romance in the Ruins' designed by Claudia de Yong and inspired by Beeston Castle, was not only featured but it scooped a Gold Award Winner category and Best Show Garden!

Ancient castles, romantic, tales, magical architecture ... Claudia de Yong's garden was inspired by the medieval Beeston Castle in Cheshire.

The scented courtyard garden features two tumble-down turrets in the style of an old castle, with tumble-down walls, enclosed on two sides by hedging. Water cascades into a small pond from the back turret. A rose covered pergola takes centre stage and people walk through the garden or sit down and enjoy the space on two metal benches.

Claudia de Yong is the designer for Wyevale Garden Centres — if you missed the programme on BBC2 on Saturday 17 June, then catch up on BBC iPlayer.
